Overview

PlateUp ("we", "our", "the app") is a meal planning and kitchen inventory management application. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Information We Collect

Account Information

• Email address (for authentication)
• Profile data you provide: name, height, weight, age, activity level, dietary goals, cooking skill level

App Data

• Kitchen inventory items and quantities
• Meal plans and recipes (including AI-generated content)
• Equipment preferences
• Shopping lists
• Macro nutrient tracking data

Camera & Photos

• Receipt images (processed for ingredient extraction, not stored permanently)
• Camera access is only used when you initiate a receipt scan

Technical Data

• Crash reports and error logs (via Sentry) for app stability
• Device type and OS version (for compatibility)
• Anonymous usage analytics

How We Use Your Data

• Core Features: Your profile, inventory, and meal data power the app's planning and tracking features
• AI Features: Profile and inventory data is sent to our AI service (Claude by Anthropic) to generate personalized meal plans and recipes. This data is processed in real-time and not retained by the AI service beyond the request
• Crash Reporting: Error data helps us fix bugs and improve stability
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties

Data Storage & Security

• All data is stored in Supabase (hosted on AWS) with row-level security (RLS) — you can only access your own data
• Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with secure token management
• Offline data is stored locally on your device via PowerSync (SQLite)
• All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption

Data Retention & Deletion

• Your data is retained as long as your account is active
• You can delete your account and all associated data from the Profile screen in the app
• Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed from our servers
• Cached data on your device is cleared when the app is uninstalled

PlateUp is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
